Nap time.

Eve commented that in a lot of my art, people tend to have words seemingly spill out of their mouths. I responded that for me, the idea of words and secrets and things we say almost escaping or being expunged from our bodies are a very interesting and compelling visualization. I think the animated Oren-Iishi backstory scene in "Kill Bill" when the young girl lets out a whimper and then pulls it back into her mouth is definitely a major inspiration. Again, the idea of text and imagery going back and forth in this little sketchy quickie of mine.

I wants a Screenprinting studio

So as of now, I'm trying to print shit w/my screens on a board on my bathroom. Not working so well.

Perhaps it's being spoiled from working at AAU these past few years, but I miss their printing facility something fierce. Ideally, what I'm looking for is a facility with the following:

-24 hour access (or at least access til 2am?)
-an industrial sink and powerwasher
-a vacuum exposure unit
-a dark room
-a stockroom filled with emulsion, inks, stencil stripper, degreaser, and ink cleaner
-drying racks
-outlets (for a hairdryer)
-big-ass tables with lovely jiffy clamps
-a location that takes less than 30 min. to get to from my apartment

Sigh. I mean, I guess I could save up for the emulsion, inks, stencil stripper, etc., etc. And if I clean my desk I can get a table for my jiffy clamps. And I guess I could get a different bulb for my bathroom to use it as a darkroom for coating. And there is a power washer at the car wash 8 blocks away. Sigh. I guess I could buy the lamp and glass and foam and shit for the exposure unit, but goddamn, this pisses me off.

Okay, enough whining. Time to go print on the floor again.

Oh yeah, and I'm graduating. Big fucking whoop.

Title says it all, really. In other news, I'm also working on rebranding my entire site, re-inventing Little Yeti, writing an eBook and a graphic novel, and putting together a gallery show. Sounds about right to kick off a new year.

Guh..progress on my life and photos of new art

Tired, but good.

NaNoWriMo - Going poorly. I think to complete this I'm going to have to do about 40,000 words in a day or so. I don't think I can possibly type that fast even if I wanted to.

Handmade Ho Down - The specter that haunts my life. Going super cool, but shit, we need more volunteers and more publicity.

Personal website - I finally got some photos taken (but there still needs to be some photoshop action to color correct, etc.) of my art work, but I gotta crop, resize, and redesign the site. Ug.

Graduation - Gotta schedule a portfolio meeting with the director. Should probably get a portfolio ready to do so.

Silkscreen - Book project coming along swimmingly. Another maybe 30 or so hours and it'll be done-done. Still gotta design the poster, map, and box. Sigh.

Quick Studies - Still flushing out the direction I want to move stylistically. We'll see.

The rest of my life is Eve, work, eating, and sleeping. Egads.

NaNoWriMo

So as I slowly begin to write my novel for NaNoWriMo, I've decided that I might as well share the novel with people as it formulates itself. I make no guarantees that it will be good. It will be entertaining, filled with deus ex machinas and other looked-down-upon literary devices. Anyway, if you are interested, let me know (via comments or email or whatever) and I'll hook you up with the link to the read-only version of my in-progress novel (I'm writing it in google docs).
